GE Tests Megawatt-class Hybrid System at High Altitude
The test marks a first for a megawatt class, multi-kilovolt hybrid-electric propulsion system in simulated altitude conditions for a single-aisle aircraft.
NASA’s Electric Aircraft Testbed (NEAT) facility in Sandusky, Ohio has been used to simulate altitude conditions to test a megawatt-class, multi-kilovolt hybrid-electric propulsion system for single-aisle commercial flight under a partnership with GE Aerospace. The successful testing marks a first, paving the way for work towards flight on a Saab 340 testbed involving partner Beoing aircraft.
